Has Google bought Plaxo?

Rumours suggest deal has been done

Wired reports that Google may have bought Plaxo, the online auto-updating contact service.

Plaxo has been "for sale" for some time now, reportedly taking on the services of an investment bank to help any potential deals go though.

Previous rumours that Facebook were interested in buying the company did not come to anything.

These new reports suggest the search engine has had a "sub-$200 million offer" accepted by Plaxo.

A spokesperson for Plaxo declined to confirm or deny the deal, saying that the company has a policy of not commenting on rumours.
