Samsung to announce new smartphone on Friday

New handset to launch before Mobile World Congress

Samsung is to announce a new mobile phone in the UK on Friday, Pocket-lint has learned.

Although details are scarce at the moment, the new phone will be launched ahead of the Mobile World Congress on Monday and feature Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 operating system.

The announcement comes 2 days after the company launched the U600, a black version of its popular phone with added haptics to give users of the phone feedback when they are using the touch-sensitive buttons.

Expect full details of the new handset on Friday.

Pocket-lint will be covering all the latest news from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next week.
