Hidden away on the Character Options stand at the London Toy Fair this year was something that very much caught Pocket-lint's eye. Among the craft and creation playsets sat an interesting device, one that could inspire a few adults to have a dabble, let alone children. It's name is Make Your Case and its purpose is to help smartphone owners create silicon cases for their devices.

For the price of a normal silicon case from an accessory vendor, the main Make Your Case set comes with an MYC Studio - the plastic bit that holds the other plastic bits - and different moulds for iPhone 4 or 4s, iPhone 5 or 5s, iPod touch fifth generation and Samsung Galaxy S3. There are also four compound cartridges, which store different coloured silicon gels, and four protective backs.

When you push down on the cartridge plunger, the compound material enters the mould, sets and creates the surround for the case. The rear plates can also be customised, with gem stickers, stencils and decorative designer paper included to help. You can also cut pictures out of magazines and add all sorts of other designs to customise your case. The examples shown were aimed at teenage girls but anybody can have a crack. Into combine harvesters of the late 19th century? There's plenty of pictures to be found on the net you could add to the rear.

Other sets will be released too, which offer different types of effects for the backs of made cases. There's a cross-stitching set, one that features decor tape to create striped designs, and one to create spin art.

The main Make Your Case pack will cost £24.99 and will be available in autumn 2014, along with the other add-ons.
