Nintendo accused of being regionalist

Brain Training prefers Queen's English

Watchdog's Nicky Campbell has taken a pop at Nintendo's Brain Training game for being "regionalist".

Apparently Dr Kawashima's training tool doesn't like Northern accents.

Manchester-based disc jockey Michelle Livesey rang up the show to have a good old rant about her dialect doldrums:

"Basically you have to say the different colours that flash up on the screen as quickly as possible. I'm saying, blue, blue, blue and it's saying no, even though it was blue."

"Then it got to yellow. I'm going, 'yeller' and everyone's saying to me you need to be a bit posher. You need to say, 'yellow' and as soon as I did, it picked it up."

No mention of whether the Nintendo DS and the game had problems with any other accents other than those north of Watford.

However - isn't Brain Trainer's biggest fan none other than Nicole Kidman - that Australian actress?
