Microsoft has announced its Xbox One console topped 3 million sales in 13 countries before the end of 2013.
The next-generation console launched on 22 November in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the UK, the US and New Zealand to much fanfare. Microsoft saw 1 million Xbox Ones sold on the first day, and a total of 2 million in 18 days.
"It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honoured to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the US during our launch month in November," said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate VP of marketing, strategy and business at Xbox. "Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide."
We suspect it won't be long before Sony posts similar numbers, as the two companies have been battling to report better market share.
