Garmin has updated its Nuvi line of satnav devices at CES 2014, taking things large.

The Garmin Nuvi 2798LMT has a Wireless Backup Camera. The camera can be installed on the rear of your vehicle so that you can see behind you when reversing and avoid driving into stray shopping trolleys or kids.

The camera is said to be rugged enough to survive the harshest of weather conditions. If the camera is wired into the reversing lights, you'll be able to have your Nuvi flip to rear camera mode each time you engage reverse - although you'll need it to be properly installed.

The Nuvi will let you switch from navigation to rear-view at the press of a button. Aside from the camera, you'll get all the navigation tech you'd expect from Garmin.

The Garmin Nuvi 2798LMT will cost $399.99 (£245) and will be available from February 2014.

Elsewhere, the 2014 Essential Series offers 5 or 6-inch devices, incorporating more features previously restricted to the Advanced Series models. You'll get more POIs and traffic features to get you safely to your destination.

The Essential Series will cost between $129.99 and $209.99 depending on the model you choose.

Finally, Garmin has announced the HUD+. Rather than sticking a display to your windscreen, the HUD+ projects the details on to the inside of it, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road.

The latest HUD+ version comes with a new smartphone app, available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. The app will supply maps and directions, storing the maps on your device so it will work offline. You'll also be able to get traffic information.

The HUD+ will be available for $179.99, also in February 2014.
