Google has acquired Bitspin, maker of the Timely alarm clock app on Android. Timely has an average rating of 4.5 stars on Google Play, and is quite popular among those looking to wake up on time.
Google has yet to confirm the acquisition, but Bitspin made an announcement on its website: "We're thrilled to announce that Bitspin is joining Google, where we'll continue to do what we love: building great products that are delightful to use."
Following the acquisition, the app has gone free on Google Play. It features an intuitive way to set the alarm, by simply swiping from the edge of the screen to instantly set the desired time by dragging a bar. Timely can also be personalised with colours to match your mood and alarms can sync across all your devices.
It's not that the built-in alarm clock app on Android 4.4 KitKat is terrible, but with Timely's technology Google could make some sweet changes in the next version of Android.
Pocket-lint has reached out to Google to learn more about the acquisition.
