Samsung hires former Apple Store designer, are retail stores coming?

Samsung has snatched up former Apple Store designer Tim Gudgel for a retail expansion for the company, according to The Information.

Samsung is considering opening brick and mortar stores in the US, and potentially other areas worldwide, much like Apple has for years now. The company now has the product line to do so, with plenty of smartphones, tablets, televisions, wearables, accessories and home appliances to push.

The company doesn't have a retail presence in the US other than its Samsung Experience stores inside Best Buy. Here, Best Buy employees get specialised training on Samsung's products to offer help and buying persuasion. The company offers many a "store within a store" in a number of Phones 4u shops in the UK, including the flagship store on London's Oxford Street.

Michael Forrest, another ex-Apple employee, joined Samsung earlier this year to focus on presenting Galaxy products better in retail. Gudgel and Forrest could be working together once again to guide Samsung into further domination in 2014.
