A handset believed to be the next HTC flagship phone - codenamed the HTC M8 but also thought to be called the HTC One 2 - has been listed on the Wi-Fi Alliance's certification pages. Or, at least, it was until it was made private by the organisation.
Thankfully, some eagle-eyed Android fan managed to get hold of the certification details before they were pulled.
To be honest, they don't make for much reading, and merely reveal that two variants of model 0P6BXXXXX have passed the wireless standards required for certification for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths. One of the models is a single-SIM, the other double. Both are identical save for that.
What we understand from previous speculation and leaks, including an AnTuTu benchmark, is that the HTC M8 will come with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330, Android 4.4 KitKat, a 5-inch Full HD display and Ultrapixel camera.
It is heavily rumoured that the phone will make an appearance in February 2014 - possibly at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We will no doubt hear more about it before then.
