This is one of our favourite finds of the year, and it’s quite rightly a Webby’s nominee. At you get to see just how Google would look if it had existed in the 1980s.

For those of us who remember those days well, this is proving to be more than just an amusing little exercise.

Back then, writing a few lines of code to make your name appear across a screen took a long time to master, and even that simple result (simple by today’s standards, that is) would blow people’s minds. Something like Google, was almost inconceivable.

This is a brilliant use of modern code to bring an old technology back to life, and we salute the makers as it’s brought a little nostalgia into Pocket-lint Towers.

For those people who weren’t around then, this will give a flavour of just how far things have come in what really doesn’t seem like a very long time.

Oh, and for hipsters, this is yet more proof that not everything in the Eighties was awesome.
