iFob from iCloseBy launches for iPhone

iApp for potential iStalkers

30 January 2008 10:59 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

iCloseBy.com has launched a new application for iPhones, iPod touches and PCs with the release of iFob: "real-space social networking software".

iFob uses the Wi-Fi of iPhones, iPods and PCs and turns these devices into "homing beacons", broadcasting, or "just listening", for other iFobbers.

iFob finds other people who are in the exact same location, at the exact same time, as each other. The company says that it's "designed to become an icebreaker to real conversations".

In any public hotspot, iFob lights up and shows when anyone else with iFob walks in. Then users can chat with each other.

iFob software is a free download for the iPhone and iPod touch, or as a paid-for app for PCs.
