Nokia has released its DC-50 Portable Wireless Charging Plate, as seen at Nokia World in October, in the UK and Europe, just in time for the Christmas rush.
It works like the plugged-in Qi charger, in that Qi wireless charging-enabled Lumia smartphones can just sit on top of it to recharge. The difference is that it is also wireless - you recharge it first and can then take it wherever you go.
It measures 134 x 69mm and weighs 150g so is about the same weight as a smartphone itself. It features a 2,400mAh battery which provides enough juice to recharge a Nokia Lumia 1520 to about 70 per cent or to fully charge the Lumia 820 and then some.
The DC-50 is made of the same polycarbonate as at the phones' rear casings and you can get the charger in cyan, red, white or yellow to match your handset (unless you have a black one, of course).
The Plate is available across Europe for around 89 euros and in the UK for around £80.
