The 8 megapixel Coolpix S520 is to arrive on UK shelves next month.

This 8 megapixel model is built around a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens, featuring Nikon's optical lens shift VR image stabilisation, and a 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD monitor.

Also worth mentioning is the camera's extended light sensitivity range with manual settings up to ISO 2000.

Automatic sensitivity control is also available between ISO 64 and ISO 1600.

Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting come as standard, as does macro shooting from 15cm, and three movie modes with sound, plus a new time-lapse movie mode.

A new tool is the food mode, which "enables beautiful close-ups of food at high ISO settings".

Another new feature allows users to select their favourite three of the 16 available scene modes to appear in the Mode menu for easier access.

New in-camera image organisation tools allow favourite pictures to be saved to individual albums whilst new viewing options include Face Zoom-in, allowing quick zooming and the ability to switch between faces during playback.

The Coolpix S520 will be available in a choice of Light Bronze, Urban Black, or Purple body colours.
