Fancy yourself as a Jedi? Star Wars open auditions start in UK

Disney is looking for two people to star in a yet-to-be named movie and is starting a round of open auditions in the UK in Bristol on 9 November. The film is strongly believed to be the seventh chapter in the Star Wars saga. That's got your attention, right?

The movie has not been confirmed, but the open casting call was tweeted on @UKopencall. It is looking for Rachel and Thomas, a 17 or 18-year-old woman and a man aged between 19 and 23. Those are unlikely to be the real character names, but Disney has also provided some details about each to give the prospective actors enough information to prepare an audition piece.

"Rachel was quite young when she lost her parents," says the casting call information sheet. "With no other family, she was forced to make her way in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17, she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humour and guts to get by.

"Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead."

The male part reads: "Thomas has grown up without a father's influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn't have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this, he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can't take life too seriously."

If you think you can handle either of those roles, Bristol on 9 and 10 November are just the first dates. There will be open auditions in Manchester and Glasgow on 16 and 17, and Dublin and London on 23 and 24 November too.
