Alongside teasing a screenshot for its next-generation PGA Tour title, EA Sports announced it would no longer partner with professional golfer Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour series.
Specifically, EA Sports said it made the decision mutually with Woods to end the partnership. The company will still continue to develop the series, though.
PGA Tour is a series of golf video games published by EA Sports. After Tiger Woods '99 debuted, all subsequent titles, which released yearly, were called Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
"We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavours," said EA Sports in a blog post.
Speaking of the future, EA Sports already has a new PGA Tour video game in the works. The company said it is "working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience", and it shared the first screenshot of its upcoming game now in development.
"Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong," EA Sports added.
EA Sports also shared a comparison screenshot of the current PGA Tour. Check it out below. When pitted against the new screenshot, the improvements are clearly noticeable.
Die-hard fans should therefore feel some excitement over the tease - even if Woods is no longer in the picture (literally).
