Nokia has formerly announced the Nokia Lumia 2520, a Windows RT 8.1 tablet that will feature a 10.1-inch 1080p HD IPS display and looks to sit in the same space as the recently announced Surface 2.

The new tablet will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz and come with 4G LTE connectivity. It will be powered by a 8,000mAh battery which should be good to see you through the day. There's a microSD card slot for expanding memory.

With this being Nokia, there's a focus on imaging. In the rear is a 6.7-megapixel camera which comes with Zeiss optics, for all those essential snaps you need from your Windows tablet on the move. This is partnered with a 2-megapixel wide-angle front camera for video calling and selfies.

Nokia says the new tablet promises to be the brightest tablet screen on the market but also the least reflective and it is topped with Gorilla Glass 2. The 10.1-inch display will give you a pixel density of 218ppi, which won't exactly blow you away when it comes to detail, with rival platforms pushing out higher-resolution panels.

You'll get the Microsoft bells and whistles you would expect, such as free Office apps, as well as Nokia applications such as Nokia Music and HERE Maps.

This being Nokia, the Lumia 2520 doesn't come in just a range of bland colours: you'll be able to get it in red, white, cyan and black.

The new device will cost $499 when it goes on sale in the UK, US, and Finland later this year. Accessories already touted include the Nokia Power Keyboard that provides a keyboard, trackpad, and extended battery.
