Alleged iPad mini 2 leaks in gold with Touch ID ahead of Apple event
A gallery with alleged photos of the iPad mini 2 in a gold colour option with a TouchID fingerprint sensor has made its way to the net, courtesy of NoWhereElse. The leaked photos come a day before Apple's Tim Cook takes the stage at the Yerba Buena Center in California to talk new products.
The leaks don't chime with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who recently said: "Fingerprint sensor and gold casing production capacity first allocated to iPhone 5s on tightness." Furthermore, Pocket-lint hasn't been able to confirm the legitimacy of these photos, so be wary especially so close to event day.
Nonetheless, the iPad photographed does have a sleek look to it, perhaps indicating a prototype, final product, or just a really good fake. It makes sense for Apple to release a gold version and include Touch ID, keeping with convergence between the iPad and iPhone lines. Though with supply constraints on the gold iPhone, it would be pretty hard for Apple to keep up with demand for both products.
We'll get the full story on Tuesday when Apple makes its announcements. In the meantime, take a gander at the gallery to hopefully hold you over until event time.
