O2 has revealed it will give an 18 carat gold HTC One to one random (and lucky) customer who buys a HTC One from an O2 store anytime from today until 20 October. The unique prize is worth more than £2,000.
Dubbed the most exclusive and expensive smartphone ever made by HTC, O2 said there's only one of five in existence in the UK. Pocket-lint went hands-on with the device recently, and we noticed it was laser-etched on the back, coated in 18 carat gold, and it weighed an additional 5g.
To enter the contest, you'll first need to buy the regular HTC One from an O2 store. You'll then get a redemption code in the form of a Golden Ticket. Willy Wonka, much? From there, enter the code online at O2HTCOneGold.co.uk, and you'll finally have a chance to win the golden HTC One.
The entire contest is O2's way of celebrating 18 years of the MOBO awards, though the limited-edition, 18 carat gold HTC One is specially created in partnership with Goldgenie. The winner will also get tickets to the MOBO tour at The O2 on 14 November, where a MOBO artist will present the phone.
The MOBOs are awards in "Music of Black Origin". Kanya King and Andy Ruffell established the show in 1996, and now it is held annually in the UK to recognise artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music, according to the MOBO website.
"Guaranteed best seats in the house, meet and greet some of the performers and go to the after-show party backstage! We’ll also treat you to dinner, a hotel stay and transport on the night," said O2, clarifying how the winner will experience the full VIP treatment.
Also, in case you're wondering, the winner can still keep the original HTC One they purchased from O2. Awesome, right?
