Windows 8.1 is almost here and Lenovo has just announced its latest Miix 2 tablet sporting the Microsoft OS.
The successor to the Lenovo Mixx 10 is an 8-inch 16:10 (800x1280) tablet that comes with an Intel Bay Trail-T quad-core processor, 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras, in an 8.35mm shell that weighs 350g.
The Windows 8.1 interface includes enhanced searching and sharing, better web browsing with IE 11, touch optimisation and the return of the old favourite Start button. It will come with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 pre-installed. There is an option for a stylus accessory, should you want it.
"Many users want the convenience of a smaller screen tablet, but do not want to lose the performance and convenience of a powerful, quad core Windows 8.1 device," said Bai Peng, vice-president and general manager, notebook business unit, Lenovo Business Group
"With the Lenovo Miix2 8-inch, users can take advantage of a small, light form factor without sacrificing performance. The Lenovo Miix2 8-inch is a great example of how thoughtful design can deliver the best of both worlds."
The Miix2 8-inch will be on sale later this month from $299 (£188).
