When it comes to thinking outside the box, you really have to hand it to thecardboardman.co.uk.

This is one of those ideas that has you kicking yourself that you didn't think of it: cardboard furniture. That might sound daft, but hear us out. It was the brainchild of Gareth Swarte, who realised that many people, students in particular, move around quite a bit, so don't necessarily want to lug a van load of furniture around every time they up sticks.

This innovative range of simple yet effective furniture is all designed to be low cost, reusable and just about as portable as it's possible to get. The cardboard itself is all from sustainable sources and is, of course, recyclable.

As well as furniture for the “urban nomad” they also make hessian totes, beanbags and cushions, for people who want to take their green credentials with them whenever they move house.

A great idea, brilliantly brought to market.
