Twitter for Android tablet app launches - but it's exclusive to Galaxy Note 10.1

Twitter has just announced a tablet-optimised app for Android devices, though it's initially exclusive to the Galaxy Note 10.1.

Previously, Android tablet owners had to use the enlarged phone version of Twitter or the Twitter mobile site. The new app has a two-column landscape layout, echoing the interface found in Twitter's iPad app.

Because the app is a Galaxy Note 10.1 exclusive, it supports Samsung's multi-window multitasking feature. This enables users to use two apps side-by-side. Compatibility with the multitasking feature will also give users the ability to doodle on photos with the S Pen and then post them to directly to Twitter within the app.

Twitter said the app would be available to other Samsung tablets in the near future, though many find it odd that it launched with an exclusive to Samsung in the first place. After all, the Nexus 7 is one of the more popular Android tablets available.

Owners of the 2014 Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 can download the new Twitter tablet-optimised app from the Google Play Store now. Check out a gallery of screenshots below.
