Currys and PC World will sell the Cubify Cube 3D printer online from tomorrow, 2 October.
Designed for use in the home, the Cube features plug-and-play simplicity and the potential is there to start 3D printing as soon as you get it out of the box. Currys and PC World even claims that children will find it easy to use.
It comes with 25 free 3D print files designed by professional artists and is also compatible with software on Mac or Windows. It receives files by Wi-Fi so doesn't need to be hooked up to a computer, but will need to be plugged into the mains, of course, so is not totally cable-free.
The Cube will be available in five colours - white, silver, pink, green and blue - and is priced at £1,195. The material cartridges, which contain recyclable, compostable plastics in 16 different colours are priced at £52.80.
It's not cheap to be an early adopter of a new technology, but think of the envious smiles from your friends and family.
