Sky is to put all six series of The Sopranos back on to its TV Box Set service, to watch on demand on Sky+HD boxes or via Sky Go. In addition, series of The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men and Hannibal will be available alongside several other hugely popular shows. The first two series of Game of Thrones will continue on the platform too.
The Sopranos will return to the broadcaster's on demand offering from 1 December, The Wire from 1 November and a large selection of others from 1 October. HBO's organised crime drama marks a significant comeback however as Sky removed it soon after the death of lead actor James Gandolfini. The timing seemed at odds with the reinvigoration of public interest in the show for which he was undoubtedly most known.
As well as adding new content to its TV Box Set service, Sky will add 12 new channels to its catch-up TV platform before the end of 2013. Sky customers will soon be able to catch up with recently broadcast content from Discovery, TLC, E!, Star, Watch, Gold, Dave, Alibi, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito and Sky News.
