Archos GamePad 2 leaked with higher res screen and better quad-core grunt

The 7-inch Archos GamePad, which landed last year for Android gaming fans, is getting an upgrade. According to a leaked FCC document and an accidental online retailer leak, this is what the Archos GamePad 2 will look like.

Nice screen, we hear you say. Well spotted, this is an upgraded 7-inch IPS display now illuminating at a 1280 x 800 resolution (216ppi). But it's not all about what you can see as the processor is now a 1.6GHz quad-core backed by 2GB or RAM. Also upgraded from the original 8GB model is the availability of a 16GB option. And there's further room thanks to the microSD expansion slot.

The console-cum-tablet comes complete with full D-pad and dual analogue controls as well as shoulder buttons and stereo speakers. There's no word on battery life just yet but once we know what quad-core is under the hood we'll be able to judge better.

Pricing and availability for the Archos GamePad 2 have not dribbled out anywhere. But for reference the original model was £130 when it was released in October last year.
