Apple tops list of UK's coolest brands... again
Apple has once again topped a list of the coolest brands in Britain. It has been chosen as number one in the CoolBrand list collated through responses by 3,000 surveyed Brits and key influencers from different genres. This year, Daisy Lowe and fashion designer and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Julien Macdonald were among the judges.
No brands pay or advertise to take part in the process, it is purely down to the public and industry experts which companies appear where on the list.
Apple also topped the pile in 2012/13, but YouTube has not fared so well. It was second on the list last year, but this year has slipped to sixth - below brands such as Nike and Glastonbury.
Twitter and Google have also dropped, to be replaced by non-tech companies, but the biggest plummet has been by BBC iPlayer. The content streaming platform held sixth spot a year ago; now it's sixteenth. That's perhaps because it is now available on almost every device imaginable. We think the BBC will be fine with saturation over coolness somehow.
