There's a console in existence that's compatible with multiple gaming system cartridges. Classic ones. And it will be available for purchase on 10 December.
Called Hyperkin Retron 5, the console plays cartridges from NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, Famicom, Super Famicom and Sega Mega Drive. Awesome, right?
The five-slot, retro-gaming solution comes with a wireless Bluetooth controller, an array of controller ports and cartridge slots, original peripherals and HDMI 720p output for all supported games. It even packs a custom Bluetooth controller and allows old-school gamers to play both NTSC and PAL cartridges.
Originally expected to launch in October, Hyperkin has attributed the release delay on several key modifications made to the console. The company changed the shell design to allow for better ventilation. It also included the Sega Power Base Converter, thus allowing users to play Master System cartridges on the console.
The Retron 5 will be available in black and grey colour options for $99.99 in the US and €89.99 (£56) in the European territories when it lands in December.
