Asus Transformer Book T300 offers 13.3-inch Full HD detachable tablet

Asus has brought another Windows-powered Transformer Book to the market with a detachable tablet display, and it's called the Transformer Book T300.

The Transformer Book T300 comes with a fourth-generation Intel Core processor, as well as a 13.3-inch detachable Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) display that doubles as a Windows 8 tablet and features IPS technology for 178-degree viewing angles.

The Transformer Book sports a metallic design with a soft-touch finish. The tablet display is 11.5mm thick, while the full keyboard dock is 11mm thick and features a magnetic dock connector, backlit keys and a large touchpad. Judging by those dimensions, but without having played with the T300 yet, it certainly seems like the T300 is one bulky hybrid.

Other hardware features include built-in USB 3.0, micro-HDMI ports, LED battery charge indicator, front 720p HD camera, rear 1080p Full HD camera and ASUS SonicMaster stereo speakers. As for battery life, Asus claims eight hours. There's also up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage available.

The original Transformer Book, which cost a hefty $1,500 (£961), shipped with a last-generation Ivy Bridge processor and felt abnormally heavy and unwieldy. There's no word yet on pricing or availability for the T300, but it appears equally as weighty. Still, the specs have been greatly improved; so let's just hope the price is a little better now too.
