TomTom adds traffic jam slow down notices to satnavs
TomTom has added a Jam Ahead Warning feature to its TomTom Traffic service, which is free for TomTom Go owners and available on subscription to users of some of the other satnavs in the company's line-up.
The new feature pinpoints the location of a traffic jam and alerts drivers in advance so they can slow down in preparation. It is available immediately to all existing users of TomTom Traffic - itself part of the firm's Live services - and comes with additional new features, including an ability to now detect more road closures and road works automatically than previously. And a new Predictive Flow Feed can more accurately predict congestion on a route and therefore direct a driver to a different route more efficiently.
"We continue to make TomTom Traffic even more powerful and precise with every new release," said Ralf-Peter Schäfer, head of TomTom Traffic. "This latest version of TomTom Traffic is now so accurate it can pinpoint the precise location of a traffic jam.
"By giving drivers advanced knowledge about the road up ahead, we aim to make journeys safer and more predictable."
