Barnes & Noble selling off last remaining Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets for £79 and £129
Barnes & Noble has announced that it will be selling off the last remaining UK stock of its 7-inch and 9-inch tablets from £79 and £129 respectively.
The Nook HD is now available for £79 for the 8GB version and £99 for the 16GB. While the Nook HD+ is £129 for the 16GB version, £149 for the 32GB. All are currently on Nook.co.uk and will be sold at these prices while stock lasts.
This is the second time that US book retailer Barnes & Noble has dramatically dropped the prices of its tablet devices in the UK. The first came in July when it dropped the prices to £99 and £149 for the 8GB 7-incher and 16GB 9-inch slate, but it is now clearly trying to clear its decks after announcing earlier in the year that it was to ditch manufacturer and sale of tablets in favour of focusing on its eBook readers instead.
The new prices represent excellent value for money, especially since the company added Google Play access to its tablets in May, so they will play any compatible Android app available.
"As families across the UK prepare for students to go back to school, Nook has made digital reading even more affordable by lowering prices on the Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets," said Jim Hilt, managing director, Barnes & Noble.
"We are committed to the cause of literacy and learning in the UK and this new pricing on our highly versatile tablets will bring a world of books, apps, films, music and more to customers at an unbeatable value."
