LG has just revealed its next-generation 5.5-inch screen and already has a rumoured G Pad tablet. Now news of a 9.8-inch tablet, dubbed V500, has leaked via the FCC. Is this part of the G Pad line-up?

Despite LG claiming it was going to focus on smartphones over tablets, and the last LG Optimus Pad out way back in the summer of 2011, it looks like we'll be seeing a new device or two.

We've already heard about the G Pad, an 8.3-inch tablet with a 1920 x 1080 resolution display, quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. But this larger slate is new.

The 9.8-inch tablet doesn't have many details revealed on the FCC site other than dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. But with the immense power LG crammed into the G2 - including that Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor - we're excited about the prospect of the V500.

If it has an aluminium shell like the rumoured G Pad it will likely be aimed at the top end of the market, away from the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD or rumoured Tesco tablet.

Here's hoping this tablet can stand up to the iPad Mini 2, Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note 8 while still remaining affordable.
