Gold-toned iPhone 5S reportedly set to unveil in September

The gold iPhone is coming.

It's not just any old gold, though. Unnamed sources say it's an “elegant” gold more on the champagne side and not ingot. Apple's gold iPhone will specifically feature a white face, gold-tone back plate and "chamfered edging". Fancy.

It's important to note that the upcoming colour doesn't appear to be an exclusive option for iPhone 5S - the alleged successor to the iPhone 5. The report speculates that Apple is adding gold to the iPhone colour palette because it's one of the easiest colours to anodise, and it even points to an alleged gold rush in recent months that has caused a spike in gold jewellery sales.
