Sony's HT-ST7 soundbar offers Bluetooth, NFC and Zero Dark Thirty-like sound for $1,299

Sony has a new high-end soundbar, and it's cloaked in aluminum and made with Academy award-winner Paul Ottosson's seal of approval.

Launching today for $1,299 (£835), the HT-ST7 offers NFC-enabled Bluetooth pairing, nine drivers powered by seven amplifiers and a wireless subwoofer with dual bass drivers.

As if that's not impressive enough, Sony said it brought Ottosson - a renowned sound engineer - on board to fine tune the HT-ST7. He's been responsible for the sound in many blockbuster films like Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker and Spiderman 2.

Other specs and tidbits for the HT-ST7 include a remote, sound-optimiser technology for auto-equalising of the loudness curve, as well as an LCD screen that's dimmable. There's even a built-in IR repeater, seven inputs for HDMI, digital audio and analog, and an Audio Return Channel for convenient set up with just one cable.

The HT-ST7 is available at the Sony Store and various retailers nationwide. We're checking on internationally availability, so stay tuned. In the mean time, browse the gallery below for a closer look at this beefy soundbar.
