The Nexus 7 2, or 2nd generation Nexus 7 as it is also known, will launch in the UK on 28 August, Asus has confirmed to Pocket-lint.
The UK release date comes just one month after the US launch, but ahead of previous suggestions by retailers in the UK that have ranged from late July to early September.
According to Asus, the new high-res 7-inch tablet will be available at some retailers at midnight on the 27th - ie, the morning of August 28, for those keen to stay up.
It will be available, we are told, at the usual array of high street retailers, rather than just specifically on the online Google Play store in the UK.

The launch date also means it is likely to arrive in the UK ahead of the launch of the next-generation iPad mini, expected sometime before Christmas, and before Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 3 at IFA, which while not a direct competitor does fit in similar territory.
The Nexus 7 2 is expected to cost £199.99 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version and £239.99 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only model.
