Instagram adds ability to import video and straighten photos, video support for ICS
Facebook-owned Instagram launched a Vine-like video feature in July, and now the company has updated that feature and added some new tweaks with version 4.1 of the app that's live in Apple's App Store and Google Play.
The biggest iOS upgrade is the ability to upload videos from a phone’s media library and share them on Instagram. Just open the app, select a video clip for import, and then trim, crop or edit the clip...and voila! Your library videos have now been Instagrammed.
On the photo-side of things, Instagram for iOS has added a new tool that straightens photos instantly. When taking a photo with Instagram, just tap the new Straighten icon to level the composition. There's also a slider for rotating and adjusting any photo like imported ones.
Instagram version 4.1 for Android, which also released on Wednesday, comes with broader device support, so people using Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, can now use the service's new 15-second video feature.
