HTC says the Desire 500, announced in July for the Far East market, will make its way to the UK this month.
The new mid-range smartphone that isn't good enough to claim the One moniker will feature a quad core 1.2GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera and sport a 4.3-inch screen.
"The HTC Desire 500 is designed for those who demand a superior mobile experience at an affordable price," says HTC of the new phone.
As you would expect the new smartphone will run Android 4.2 and come with the usual HTC niceties such as HTC BlinkFeed and Video Highlights.
Other features include a 1.6 megapixel front-facing camera and support for microSD cards of up to 64GB. It can also record video at 720p, while the 1,800mAh battery allows for up to 17.8 hours of talktime on 3G, 401 hours of standby.
In Lacquer Black or Glacier Blue, the new HTC Desire 500 will be available with mobile operators and major retailers in select markets from August 2013.
The HTC Desire 500 will also come with with dual SIM support and NFC in select markets, the company confirms.
