New GTA V screens show just how next-gen current gen can look

Rockstar has released a new set of screengrabs from Grand Theft Auto V as part of its countdown to the game's official release on 17 September.

They feature the main three protagonists in different situations - relaxing and in action - and the main thing that can be taken from the new shots is that this is going to be a true swan song for the current generation of consoles.

With the PS4 and Xbox One to go on sale just weeks after GTA V, all eyes will be on those next-generation machines. However, it is clear from the latest screens, and games such as The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Gran Turismo 6 and the forthcoming Watch Dogs, developers are still managing to wring some spectacular graphical experiences out of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

You can even pre-order a Grand Theft Auto V bundle with the super-slim PS3 from Amazon for £249.99. That's a full £200 less than the Xbox One will cost without a game, so could be an option if you would rather hold on for a while before jumping on the next-gen bandwagon.
