Activision Publishing, Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm jointly announced on Thursday that Angry Birds Star Wars would release for gaming console systems on 29 October.
The game will specifically release for the first time on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo’s Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It will also launch as varied editions with design elements specific to each platform. There will even be new levels and features.
Rovio said mobile users had downloaded Angry Birds Star Wars, which originally debuted last year, more than 100 million times. Based on the first Angry Birds title and Angry Birds Space, the Star Wars-themed game combines the best of both Angry Birds and Star Wars franchises and includes 20 new levels, multiplayer modes, achievements, bonus content and HD graphics.
As for why the title will not land for PS4 and Xbox One, Rovio doesn't offer any reason. But maybe its upcoming sequel will have better odds.
