T-Mobile USA announces Sony Xperia Z availability for $99, holds the US exclusive

The Sony Xperia Z is now available on the T-Mobile network, the carrier announced at its media event in New York on Wednesday. This is the first wireless carrier in the US to offer Sony's flagship handset and, according to T-Mobile, it will hold an exclusive.

The Xperia Z for T-Mobile is available on Sony's online store from today. T-Mobile says it will begin selling the handset in its retail stores, select retailers and online n 17 July, with pre-orders beginning 16 July. The Xperia Z will be available for $99.99 (£67) down, with payments of $20 a month for 24 months - or the typical UnCarrier plan that T-Mobile makes available.

We gave Sony's Xperia Z high-marks in our review, noting its waterproof design, display, and build quality to be enticing. As for specifications, the handset features a 5-inch display, 1.5GHz asynchronous quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB RAM, 13.1-megapixel rear-camera, and 16GB of internal storage.
