Google has made good on its promise to bring a new-look UI and functionality to its mobile apps offering. Announced in May this year, the mobile changes are being pushed out to devices running Android 4.0.3 and later.

The whole point of the new look is to bring a more personalised experience, including things like live traffic updates and clever dynamic rerouting to help avoid jams.

Maps are also now much more local, helping you find out information on the area around you at a glance. Ratings and reviews have been pushed straight to the top of the maps UI, so you can see what is going on nearby. Tablets also get a new Experience feature that allows you to view enhanced indoor walkthroughs.

If you fancy trying the new-look desktop, you do need to opt in via the Google Maps website. As for the Android app, it is now live in updated form in Google Play, so get updating.

Regular meetings with the Gladiators crew see Hunter often returning to work battered and bruised. Considers himself a music obsessive, was once the most highly decorated scout in the country.
