Yelp for iOS updated on Tuesday with a new “Order Pickup or Delivery” button that enables users to browse and order food from restaurants within the mobile app and which was rolled out alongside the launch of Yelp Platform.
Yelp is an American company that offers internet rating and review services, and its new Yelp Platform is a way to "transact" on the main site and mobile apps, according to a post on the official Yelp blog.
More specifically, the Yelp Platform will boast a number of categories, such as the food delivery and pickup feature that Yelp for iOS launched on Tuesday, which would provide users with the ability to place orders through Yelp listings and process payments without ever having to leave Yelp.
"We’ll be rolling out Yelp Platform category by category, beginning today with food delivery and pickup," announced Yelp. "Starting now, people can order food directly from a select number of restaurants supported by delivery.com and Eat24, like NYC's Republic and Layaly Mediterranean Grill in SF."
Yelp said US-based users would eventually be able to order from thousands of local restaurants and businesses via Yelp listings, and the new platform will add even more categories - like "spas, yoga studios, salons and dentist appointments starting with Booker, Intuit’s Demandforce and MindBody" - in the coming months.
The services and features of Yelp Platform are now available on Yelp's mobile app, mobile web or desktop site, and Yelp for iOS will roll out its new "Order Pickup or Delivery" button to more locations in the weeks ahead.
