Google Play has introduced a new section, called Beautiful Design Summer 2013 Collection, to showcase stunning Android apps.
The Beautiful Design section unveiled on Thursday is just one of many collections featured on Google Play and which appear front and centre within the Google Play app. Google has created the new section to not only promote apps but also to encourage Android developers in the use of good design.
"If you’re an Android developer, make sure to play with some of these apps to get a sense for the types of design details that can separate good apps from great ones," wrote Marco Paglia of the Android Design Team on the Android Developers blog.
At launch, Beautiful Design highlights 11 apps with "masterfully crafted design details". The apps that make the cut must have fast and clear transitions, crisp and meaningful layout and typography - and design touches that "delight you in surprising ways".
Google said it will refresh the section with new apps "every so often". The section currently includes Pattrn, Pocket, Timer, Eye in the Sky Weather, NY Times, Grand St., Pinterest, Press, Expedia, Flipboard and TED.
