The Facebook app for Windows Phone 8 left beta on Monday and launched as Facebook 5.0.

The latest version includes an overhauled user interface, better navigation and support for "high-res pictures, post sharing, Facebook Timeline view, and more", according to a post on the Windows Phone blog.

Microsoft said it was working to bring the changes to Facebook for Windows Phone 7, and that that update should hit later in the summer. In the meantime, for those of you who wish to continue testing, a separate Facebook Beta app is still live. The company said it welcomed any feedback.

Facebook 5.0 for Windows Phone 8 is free and available now.
