LaCie has announced a new 24-inch wide gamut display aimed at creative professionals.

The LaCie 324 LCD monitor is equipped with an S-PVA panel, which offers a 92% NTSC gamut.

It also embeds a 10-bit Gamma Correction mechanism that is said to minimise banding and ensures colour gradients are smoothly rendered.

With its 16:10 wide-screen format, this monitor can show two letter-size (A4) pages side by side with additional room for palettes and toolbars, adds LaCie.

The LaCie 324 supports high definition video up to, and including, 1080p sources.

It also includes embedded Faroudja DCDi and TrueLife(tm) video technologies as well as noise removal and adaptive contrast features for enhancing moving images.

It can be connected up to four computers or video sources at the same time using its VGA, DVI and two HDMI ports, and supports HDCP for Blu-Ray and HD DVD compatibility. Two of these sources can be simultaneously viewed in picture-in-picture mode.

The LaCie 324 is available in bundle with LaCie blue eye pro - a single-click hardware calibration solution which is claimed to be more precise than traditional manual calibration methods.

It also offers tools that includes manual fine-tuning of the white point, test and report to verify profile accuracy, and profile switching without the need to recalibrate.

The bundle also includes LaCie's easyHood, a one-piece monitor hood with anti-reflective black velvet lining intended to reduce glare in brightly lit work environments.

The monitor features a touch sensitive control panel and has both a built-in three-port USB 2.0 hub and a speaker/headphone port.

The LaCie 324 display will be available at the end of January for £579 (plus VAT).
