Sony could refresh its Xperia Z by giving it a Snapdragon 800 processor, according to a new report.
Eldar Murtazin, an editor at Russian website Mobile-Review, claimed over the weekend on Twitter that he has played with an Xperia Z loaded with a Snapdragon 800 chipset.
The notorious leakster also described the updated Z as a "really fast" prototype featuring a display akin to HTC One's Super LCD 3. He added, however, that the display might not release with the final iteration.
The unofficial Xperia blog noted that Sony Mobile has never debuted a new processor in a refresh model, but "all evidence" apparently points to the manufacturer using Snapdragon's chipset in future models. The forthcoming Xperia Z Ultra, for instance, could boast a Snapdragon 800 CPU, if a round of circulating rumours are true.
Sony Mobile has previously bolstered the specs of handsets like the Xperia arc by releasing the Xperia arc S, so the company is not immune to providing speed improvements to its flagships.
