Anki Drive app brings gaming to life in your living room - coming this autumn

First to take to the stage at Apple's WWDC 2013 conference was the developer of the Anki Drive app. Put together over the last five years, the app uses artificial intelligence and your iPhone to power a set of remote-control cars that operate entirely autonomously.

You can use your iPhone to control the car's behaviour, telling them to block the car you might be controlling. The reallt exciting thing however is that this is one of the first apps to properly extend gameplay beyond your phone.

Rather than using the handset to control a remote-controlled helicopter, like that of Griffin's TC Helo, this app is pushing proper artificial intelligence from the iPhone.

While it wasn't without its bugs, the possibilities of what Anki can do are clear. Using the platform to power accessories and toys that connect to your iPhone is an exciting proposition and one we should end up seeing more of when the app is launched later this year.
