The Blu-ray disc association is not showing any mercy to Toshiba and its HD DVD format this week at CES in Las Vegas announcing that sales of the format by Sony are out competing HD DVD.

According to latest figures by Home Media Research, an independent market research firm, Blu-ray Disc movie titles outsold HD DVD by nearly 3-to-1 in Europe and 2-to-1 in the US in 2007.

According to the European based market research firm, GfK, high-def movie title sales in Europe were nearly 3-to-1 in favor of Blu-ray.

In Japan the margin was 14-to-1.

Counting the PS3, something that the HD DVD group never likes to do, sales of high-def playback devices were even stronger in Blu-ray's favour – more than 3-to-1 in the United States, 10-to-1 in Europe and more than 100-to-1 in Japan.
