Shown at the CES show in the hope of getting a US distributor, Pocket-lint enjoyed a hands-on demo of the Korean iRobiQ household helper bot.

The cute and friendly looking silver robot boasts many functions that aim to aid a household with kids - including a "Montessori" nursery programme setting to help little ones at pre-school.

More general functions include an alarm clock setting and news and weather service to keep you informed via the robot's screen in his midriff.

Kid-friendly functionality includes storytelling, teaching the English language and singing and dancing for lighter moments.

Mom can get help with recipes, store and view photos and employ the security features the device offers with a 1.3-megapixel webcam that can be used for surveillance purposes.

It offers 3 hours battery life, has intelligent auto-return to charging station and costs arouns $5000 depending on what programmes you want pre-installed.
