Budget iPhone tested in many colours, with late summer production?
A new report surfaced on Thursday about Apple's rumoured low-cost iPhone that is expected to land this year, and the latest news indicates the device is being tested in a range of coloured models and will begin production in late summer.
Japanese blog Macotakara - citing unnamed sources - claimed the smartphone might debut in (sic) "white, pink, green, blue yellow-orange", while another run of colours include "navy, gold orange, white, grey".
The report does not list black as a colour option, but said the models were currently just prototypes in batches "of about 1,000". Field-testing for the models will begin in June, and production for shipping is purportedly slated for between July and September 2013.
Rumours, as well as alleged leaks, suggesting that Apple is working on a budget iPhone for the second-half of 2013 have long persisted. Many reports indicate it is a 4-inch plastic device, and so a slew of concept designers have added colours to that form factor and published their take online.
Just last month, Myvouchercodes.com commissioned designer Nickolay Lamm to create what he thought Apple might do. A gallery of his work is below.
