Twitter for Mac app adds Notification Center integration

Twitter updated its Mac app on Wednesday with Notification Center integration.

Notification Center in OS X previously directed to Twitter.com instead of Twitter's native client when notifications for the social network popped up. The latest version of the Mac app now lets OS X users receive notifications when someone mentions them or when they receive a direct message. Configuration is available in the app's Preferences menu.

Today's improvement fulfills a much-requested feature and confirms Twitter's interest in continuing development of the Mac app, as it is notorious for infrequent updates.

The new update also includes fixes for Growl notifications, a bug that prevented unfavouriting tweets, an error message when posting a tweet with a pasted image, and other crashes and various bugs.

Twitter 2.2.1 is free and available in the Mac App Store now.
