Panasonic has announced it is developing a new Lumix digital camera with wireless capabilities that will allow users to upload images directly to Google's Picasa web albums.Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company has also teamed up with T-Mobile to offer users of the new camera the ability to upload images when in one of the operators hotspots.
However the compact camera won't be coming to the UK anytime soon Panasonic has confirmed to Pocket-lint.
"It's a technological advancement that has been announced, but it will not be coming to Europe", Mark Robinson, visual marketing manager for Panasonic UK told Pocket-lint of the America only model.
The move, which will be complimentary for the first 12 months mirrors a similar deal the mobile phone operator launched with Kodak at the time of its launch of the wireless EasyShare One digital camera.
After uploading images, users can receive an email with a URL link to their photos, which they can then share with family and friends.
In addition, users can confirm photos have been successfully loaded to Picasa Web Albums and can delete photos directly from the digital camera, eliminating the concern that photos have or have not been uploaded.
